When Linus reconciles me with Linus

#Linus (Torvalds) has accomplished the unthinkable: he has reconciled me with (fake) Linus.

For those who don’t know, #LTT is a famous techtuber who went nuts over a rather awful (for him) peer-review video made by Gamer’s Nexus a couple of years ago. There’s a lot to unpack there, so if you’re unaware of the drama, feel free to look it up.

Being a widely recognized tech reviewer carries immense responsibility and a huge amount of work. You can’t just go out there and publish opinionated videos about everything simply because you can or because the audience loves you. There must be professional standards. Otherwise, sooner or later, a peer may call you out for shady or unethical practices.

After that reputation debacle, I never watched another LTT video.
Until now — with Mr. Torvalds’ heavenly appearance on stage.
As a tech-savvy person, no groundbreaking revelations emerged from the PC-building interview (maybe three takeaways: ECC memory, Fedora preference, and AI impressions). But seeing one of my all-time idols there was more than enough to grab my attention.

Imagine watching your favorite public figure almost live — someone you’d normally read about like a “dead sage” in a book. That’s what it felt like to hear and watch Mr. Torvalds. Definitely, LTT must feel proud. Great job and awesome video (goofy fake Linus aside).

1. Pick your OS and system packages based on reliable, compatible hardware — not the other way around.
2. Focus on solving real, tangible problems, not reinventing the wheel with trendy tech no one will care about in two years.
3. Producing value and enabling others to create wealth matters more than being “the richest bum in the room.” Entire industries have emerged thanks to a kernel.
4. Stay humble. Stay relevant. Don’t become the problem. True Linus will be remembered as one of the most brilliant minds of the century — both centuries.
And… 5. A second chance for fake LTT Linus? Sure.
